Insurance department slaps National Home Protection with cease and desist

After receiving complaints from homeowners, the Arizona Department of Insurance issued a cease and desist order against National Home Protection Inc.

According to the order, filed Jan. 22, National Home does not hold a permit to offer or issue service contracts in Arizona. Before issuing the cease and desist, DOI had sent a subpoena to the New York company requesting that it produce proof that it is licensed to do business in Arizona and claim files for the eight Arizona residents listed in the order.

For the most part, these customers alleged the company either failed to pay or denied their claims for home repairs.

Andrew Kaczowka is one of those frustrated customers.

On Aug. 26, he filed a complaint with DOI saying National Home denied his claim for the breakdown of the pool motor at his Scottsdale home.
