Texas DA says - Blood Test or Jail for DWI
Denton County Texas Sheriff’s Deputies will run the a countywide “DWI No Refusal” weekend over the Fourth of July Holiday Weekend in which DWI suspects who refuse a Breathalyzer test will be taken to jail to give court-ordered blood samples.
A judge will sign search warrants to require suspects refuses to provide a breath or blood specimen which will be drawn immediately.
The program will be paid for by grants from the Texas Department of Transportation’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) and Impaired Driving Mobilization Grant which helps to conduct sustained DWI enforcement operations during holiday periods as part of the statewide “Drink. Drive. Go to jail.” campaign.
